What is the Federal Garnishment Law?
The primary Federal Garnishment Law (Title III of the Consumer Credit Protection Act) protect to consumer from unfair or harsh collection practices. CCPA puts a limit on the amount of an employee's wages that may be withheld for payment of child support, alimony, and creditor debts. CCPA also restricts an employer's ability to terminate employment of an employee subject to a garnishment.
